Music at Western Carolina University

The Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in performance features four additional semesters of individual study in your performing area, including two public recitals and opportunities for participation in a wide variety of ensembles. It also includes advanced study in music theory, literature, and performance. Most graduates of this program will go on to further study at the graduate level. For vocalists, a Concentration in Musical Theatre is an option.

The Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in Commercial and Electronic Music combines studies in music technology and popular musical styles with one of four areas of specialization. The Recording Arts specialization prepares you for work in a professional studio, while the Film and Video specialization may lead to a career in multi-media. Specializations in MIDI/Synthesis or Jazz Studies are also available. Students in all of these programs gain hands-on experience in WCU’s state-of-the-art recording studio.
